AN OAKLAND THERAPIST THAT GETS IT
There comes a point when “holding it all together” starts to feel heavy. When you’ve done what was supposed to make life meaningful — the career, the care for others, the constant self-improvement — yet still find yourself tired, anxious, or disconnected from the person you want to be.
I work with women across backgrounds — Black, White, Brown, straight, and queer — who are ready to reclaim their energy from anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, and exhaustion. I help women rebuild trust with themselves, their bodies, and their stories, because emotional pain doesn’t show up the same for all of us — and it’s not distributed equally among us.
As a Black woman therapist, I understand what it means to carry complexity — to live in a world that asks for strength, and rarely offers the right kind of support. My work is trauma-informed, relational, culturally sensitive, and affirming. I believe in continuity of care and with your permission, I will work with your physician, psychiatrist, doula, OBGYN, or with spiritual practices so that you get holistic care. In therapy, all parts of you are welcome: the ambitious, the exhausted, the questioning, and the still-becoming.
My Approach
Cynthia DimonLCSW
CBT, DBT, and
Trauma therapist
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Oakland, California. Since 2013, I have been a licensed therapist in Oakland, helping women transition from a state of survival to one of feeling secure and grounded. As an Oakland trauma therapist, I specialize in supporting women who feel pulled to be everything for everyone — often at the expense of themselves.
My work blends science and centers the human experience: evidence-based care grounded in authentic human connection. You can expect sessions that are structured enough to help you grow, yet flexible enough to meet you where you are. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, attachment therapy, and trauma-focused approaches — always within a relational, affirming, and culturally aware framework.
Together, we’ll make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface and create changes that last. Whether we meet in person in Oakland or online across California, I want therapy to feel like exhaling after holding your breath for too long. Let’s talk and begin the quietly brave work of healing.
Core Beliefs
My work is guided by three core values: authenticity, relational trust, and choice. These values shape every session, every conversation, and every moment of healing we share.
Healing is about remembering who you were before the world told you to be someone else.
